What This Feature Does
When a shopper mentions a discount code in chat — asking if it still works, what it gives them, or whether it applies to the items in their cart — your Rep AI assistant now looks the code up live in your Shopify store and answers with accurate, up-to-date details.
Instead of guessing or giving a vague "applies to specific collections" response, the AI can now confidently say things like:
"SUMMER20 is still active and gives you 20% off our Summer Collection."
"WELCOME10 is no longer valid — but you can use SAVE15 for 15% off your first order."
"FREESHIP applies to orders over $50, and your cart currently qualifies."
Why This Matters for Your Store
More confident shoppers, fewer abandoned carts. Customers who are unsure whether a code works often leave without checking out. Now your AI gives them an instant, authoritative answer the moment they ask.
Accurate answers for scoped discounts. If you create discount codes that only apply to specific collections or products (a very common setup in Shopify), your AI can now name those exact collections and products — not just say the code is "restricted."
Always reflects your current Shopify setup. The AI pulls discount details live from Shopify the moment a shopper asks. There's no sync delay. If you just created a code two minutes ago, it's available. If you just paused one, the AI will know that too.
How It Works
Your AI uses this feature automatically — there's nothing to enable or configure. Here's what happens behind the scenes:
A shopper mentions a code. They type something like "does SUMMER20 still work?" or "what's the deal with WELCOME10?"
The AI checks Shopify in real time. It looks up the code in your Shopify discounts and pulls the current details.
The AI explains clearly. It tells the shopper whether the code is active, what discount it gives, and which products or collections it applies to.
What the AI Can Tell Shoppers About a Code
Whether the code is currently active or expired
The discount value (percentage off, fixed amount off, free shipping)
What the code applies to — the entire store, specific collections, or specific products (by name)
Any minimum purchase requirements or other usage conditions Shopify tracks
Best Practices for Merchants
Give your discount codes descriptive names in Shopify. Internal names like "summer-sale-2026" are fine — but make sure your codes themselves (the part shoppers actually type) are clean and memorable.
Keep expired codes inactive in Shopify. Once the AI sees a code is no longer active, it will tell shoppers — so make sure to disable codes you no longer want offered.
Pair this with your existing marketing. Mention codes in your AI's suggestion chips, proactive messages, or knowledge base entries. The AI will validate them on the fly when shoppers ask.
Common Questions
Does this work for free shipping codes?
Yes — the AI handles percentage off, fixed amount off, and free shipping codes.
What if a shopper makes up a code that doesn't exist?
The AI will let them know politely that the code isn't recognized, and can offer to help them another way.
Does this require any setup or scope changes?
No. This works automatically using the Shopify permissions Rep AI already has.
Does it work for codes created in apps other than Shopify's native discounts?
The AI looks up codes registered in your Shopify discount system. Codes managed by third-party apps will be recognized as long as they appear in Shopify's standard discount records.
Troubleshooting
The AI says a code doesn't exist, but I just created it.
Make sure the code is fully saved and active in your Shopify Admin under Discounts. The AI pulls live data, so as soon as it's saved in Shopify, the AI should see it on the next shopper request.
The AI mentions the wrong collection or product for a code.
The AI uses the exact collection and product names from your Shopify catalog. If a name looks off, check the source of truth in Shopify Admin under Products or Collections.
