What This Feature Does
Your AI assistant can search your Shopify collections by name and show them directly in conversation. When a shopper asks about a product category — like "show me your summer dresses" or "do you have a candle collection?" — the AI finds the matching collection and displays it as a clickable carousel.
You can also reference specific collections in your Product Finder instructions to direct shoppers to the right place.
How It Works
Collection search is available automatically for all merchants with Product Finder enabled. No setup needed.
When a shopper asks about a product category or your instructions reference a collection, the AI:
Searches your collections by name and description using semantic matching (so "running gear" can match "Running & Athletic Wear")
Finds the best match
Displays the collection as a browsable carousel
Writing Instructions That Reference Collections
Include the Word "Collection" in Your Instructions
When referencing a collection in your Product Finder instructions, include the word "collection". This signals to the AI to pay special attention to the instruction and search your collections specifically, rather than individual products.
Good examples:
"When someone asks about shoes, show the Footwear collection"
"If a customer is looking for gifts, suggest the Gift Sets collection"
"For summer shoppers, recommend our Summer Essentials collection"
Less effective:
"When someone asks about shoes, show Footwear"
"For summer shoppers, point them to Summer Essentials"
Tips for Better Results
Match your Shopify collection names — the AI searches against the names and descriptions you've set in Shopify
Be specific — "Show the Summer Dresses collection" works better than "show something summery"
Add descriptions to your Shopify collections — richer descriptions improve matching accuracy
Troubleshooting
My collection instruction isn't triggering
Make sure you include the word "collection" in your instruction
Verify the collection exists in Shopify with a similar name
Check that the collection has products in it — empty collections are excluded
The AI is showing the wrong collection
Make your Shopify collection name closely match the instruction wording
Add a clear description to the Shopify collection
Be more specific (e.g., "Women's Summer Dresses collection" instead of "Dresses collection")
No carousel is appearing
Confirm Product Finder is enabled in your Sales Skills
If no matching collection is found, the AI falls back to searching individual products
