Virtual Try-On lets your customers see how clothing, accessories, and footwear will look on them before making a purchase. When enabled, shoppers can upload a photo of themselves and receive a realistic composite image showing them wearing your products — all within the chat conversation.
This feature helps reduce return rates caused by appearance uncertainty while boosting purchase confidence through visual product experiences.
How It Works for Your Customers
Browsing a product — Your customer views a clothing, accessory, or footwear product on your store
Clicking "Try it on" — A "Try it on" chip appears proactively when they're viewing eligible products
Uploading a photo — They upload a selfie using the chat's image picker
Seeing the result — Within seconds, they receive a realistic image of themselves wearing your product
Easy purchase — An "Add to Cart" button appears right in the chat, making it easy to complete the purchase
Customers can also try different colors or variants — simply ask the AI to "try the yellow one" and receive an updated image with the new option.
How to Enable Virtual Try-On
Navigate to AI Training → Sales Skills in your Rep AI Console
Find Virtual Try-On in the skills list
Toggle the skill ON to activate it for your store
Configure your preferred settings in the configuration modal
Once enabled, the "Try it on" chip will automatically appear when customers view products.
Supported Product Types
Virtual Try-On works best with:
Upper body items — shirts, blouses, jackets, sweaters
Full body items — dresses, jumpsuits, outfits
Footwear — shoes, boots, sneakers
Accessories — bags, hats
Photo Requirements for Best Results
For the best try-on experience, your customers should upload photos that:
Show only one person in the image
Have the person facing forward with good visibility
Show the relevant body area for the product type (upper body for shirts, full body for dresses, etc.)
Are clear and well-lit
The AI will guide customers if their photo needs improvement, providing specific suggestions for better results.
Important Limitations
Some products may not be compatible with Virtual Try-On due to image processing restrictions:
Intimate apparel and swimwear — products from stores specializing in undergarments may have limited compatibility
Complex patterns or designs — some intricate product designs may produce varying results
When a product isn't supported, the AI will politely suggest alternatives like checking your size guide.
What Your Customers Will See
Successful try-on:
"Here's how the Classic Denim Jacket looks on you! Looking great! Ready to add it to your cart?"
If they need a different photo:
"For this dress, I need to see your full body. Please upload a photo showing that area clearly."
If trying a different variant:
Customer: "I want to try the red one." AI: Shows updated image with the red variant and a new Add to Cart button.
