Rep credits a sale to your AI assistant only when the AI provided meaningful assistance that
genuinely influenced the shopper's purchase during their shopping session. Here's how that works — and, just as importantly, what we leave out.
How a sale gets attributed
Attribution happens in two steps:
1. We connect the purchase to the conversation.
When a shopper buys after interacting with your AI in the same session, Rep links that order back
to the conversation — including the actions the AI took along the way, like adding an item to the
cart, sending the shopper to a product page, or guiding them to checkout.
2. The AI reviews the conversation and decides whether it actually helped.
This is the part that makes Rep's numbers trustworthy. After the conversation, Rep's AI reads back
through the full exchange and judges whether it genuinely contributed to the buying decision. If it
did, the sale is counted as AI-assisted. If the conversation was superficial or the AI couldn't
actually help, the sale is filtered out — even though a purchase happened in that session.
In other words, a completed purchase during a chat is not enough on its own. The AI has to have
played a real role for the sale to count.
What counts as AI-assisted
A sale is credited to Rep when the AI played a real role — for example:
Recommending products the shopper went on to purchase
Answering questions about sizing, availability, shipping, or materials that helped the shopper decide
Guiding a hesitant shopper through their options
Offering alternatives when a product was out of stock
Addressing objections or concerns that were blocking the purchase
Proactively engaging a disengaged shopper who then kept shopping and bought
What gets filtered out
Rep deliberately does not count a sale when the AI didn't meaningfully help, such as:
The AI couldn't answer. The shopper asked a real question and the AI said it didn't have the
information, or pointed them to support without actually helping first. There was no real interaction. The shopper clicked on the chat icon, got a greeting, but never actually asked anything before buying.
The conversation moved to your support team. If the shopper asked for a human and was connected to your support team, that session isn't credited as an AI-driven sale.
These conversations are removed before the sale is attributed, so your dashboard reflects genuine AI impact rather than coincidental purchases.
Why this matters
Unlike standard marketing attribution — which may credit a sale days or even weeks after an ad is
viewed — Rep only counts sales where the AI genuinely helped during the shopping session. The AI's
conversation-by-conversation review means superficial or unhelpful interactions don't inflate your
results. That gives you numbers you can trust and confidently share with your team.
