Product Groups are categories of products that share common characteristics.
Product Groups are an important aspect of Rep's Product Finder feature. When a shopper asks for product recommendations, Rep uses AI to ask clarifying questions. The AI uses their responses to filter products and recommend items that match their preferences, drawing heavily from Product Group names.
Types of Product Groups
Rep supports four types of Product Groups:
1. Shopify Collections: Collections already created in your Shopify store. Rep automatically syncs Shopify Collections as Product Groups in your Rep Console.
2. Shopify tags: Shopify product tags are also synced as Product Groups in Rep for easy filtering and categorization.
3. Rep Manual Tags: Custom Product Groups you can create directly in the Rep console to organize products in ways that make the most sense for your shoppers.
4. Rep Auto-Tags: Automatically generated by Rep's AI based on product data and shopper interactions, offering additional customization without extra effort.
Create a Manual Tag
Before creating a manual tag, we recommend first considering whether a Shopify collection or tag would work for your needs. Since these automatically sync with Rep as Product Groups, they help you maintain a single source of truth for your product organization. However, if you need Rep-specific groupings, you can create a manual tag within the Rep Console.
To create a Manual Tag:
- Log into the Rep Console at the following link: https://app.hellorep.ai/home
- In the left-hand menu, navigate to AI Training > Catalog.
- Select the Product Groups tab on the left, then click Create New on the right.
-
Enter a name for the new product group, upload a photo (optional), and select the products to add to the group using the + Add Product button.
- Notice the Manual Tag appears in the list of Product Groups. Use the Browsable toggle on the right - when enabled, Rep can access this product group for its product recommendations.
