Show shoppers how much other customers love a product — right inside the chat.
When Rep AI recommends products in a conversation, each product card can now display its star rating and review count. Instead of asking shoppers to leave the chat to check reviews, you give them social proof at the exact moment they're deciding — turning your product carousel from a simple browser into a trust-building, conversion-driving tool.
This is a display feature: it pulls existing review data from your connected reviews app and shows it on the card. There's no new setup, no new content to write, and nothing for shoppers to click.
What shoppers see
On each product card in the carousel, a rating row appears between the product price and the "Learn more" button. It shows:
A row of gold stars (1 to 5)
The average rating as a number (for example, 4.5)
The total number of reviews in parentheses (for example, 4.5 (127))
The rating text stays clear and readable on both mobile and desktop, and the review count is always shown — even for a product with a single review (for example, 5.0 (1)) — so shoppers can judge how much feedback a rating is based on.
Honest, trust-first stars
The star icons round down to the nearest half-star, and never up. A product rated 4.7 shows 4.5 stars; a 4.4 shows 4 stars; a 2.9 shows 2.5 stars. The exact rating number is always displayed next to the stars, so shoppers see the precise figure while the stars stay conservative. This deliberately avoids inflating a rating — a small choice that builds long-term trust with your shoppers.
Clean cards, even without reviews
If a product has no reviews — or isn't found in your reviews app — the rating row is hidden completely. There are no empty stars and no blank space; the card layout adjusts on its own. Products with and without ratings sit side by side in the same carousel without looking inconsistent.
What you need
Star ratings appear automatically when your store has a supported reviews integration connected. Rep AI currently supports:
Yotpo
Okendo
Judge.me
Once one of these is connected:
Ratings turn on by default — no extra configuration needed.
Review data stays current, refreshing regularly (cached up to 24 hours) so cards reflect up-to-date ratings.
If your reviews app is briefly unreachable, the carousel still loads normally — it shows the last known ratings, or hides the row if none are available.
If you don't have a supported reviews integration connected, your carousel looks and behaves exactly as it does today — nothing changes.
Turning star ratings on or off
The feature is on by default when a reviews integration is detected, but you're always in control:
Go to Settings → Chat Widget in your Rep AI Console.
Open the Chat Experience tab on the Design the Look page.
Find Show star ratings in product carousel (near the Hide product prices setting).
Toggle it on or off.
Click Save and Preview.
Turning the toggle off immediately removes ratings from every carousel card. This toggle only appears if you have a supported reviews integration connected.
Why it matters
Social proof at the point of discovery. Shoppers see quality signals during the AI recommendation itself, earlier in the journey than a product page.
Higher-quality clicks and conversions. Ratings help shoppers pick with confidence, supporting "Learn more" and "Add to Cart" engagement.
A differentiator. Most conversational-commerce widgets don't show ratings in their carousels — yours will.
Accessibility
Star ratings include screen-reader labels (for example, "4.5 out of 5 stars, 127 reviews"), so the information is available to all shoppers.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see the toggle in my settings?
The toggle only appears when you have a supported reviews integration — Yotpo, Okendo, or Judge.me — connected. Connect one first, and the setting appears on the Chat Experience tab.
Why do some products show ratings and others don't?
A product's rating only shows if it has reviews in your reviews app. Products with no reviews — or that aren't matched in your reviews app — display without a rating row.
Why does a product rated 4.7 only show 4.5 stars?
The stars always round down to the nearest half-star so a rating is never overstated. The exact number (4.7) is shown right next to the stars.
Will this slow down my chat?
No. Ratings are fetched in a single fast batch when the carousel loads and cached afterward, so carousels with ratings load just as quickly as before.
