Overview
When a shopper opens your Rep AI chat on desktop, they can drag the chat window and drop it anywhere on the page. Just like the floating window in Google Meet or a picture-in-picture player, the chat follows wherever they place it — so it never blocks the product, image, or content they're trying to look at while they're talking to your AI.
What Drag and Drop Does
Once the chat is open in its regular window (not fullscreen), shoppers can:
Grab the chat header and drag the whole window to a new spot on the page.
Reposition it freely to keep it out of the way of products, images, reviews, or anything else they're focused on.
Keep chatting uninterrupted — the conversation stays exactly where it was when they move the window.
The window stays inside the visible browser area, so shoppers can't accidentally drag it off-screen.
How Shoppers Use It
The shopper opens the Rep AI chat by clicking the chat icon.
They click and hold on the top of the chat window.
They drag it to wherever they want on the page — left, right, higher, lower — and release.
The chat stays in that position for the rest of their session, so they can keep browsing your site with the chat exactly where it's most useful to them.
If they switch the chat to fullscreen mode, dragging doesn't apply — fullscreen always fills the browser window.
Why This Matters for Your Store
A movable chat window is a small detail that makes a big difference in the shopping experience:
No more covered products — Shoppers can see the product image, size chart, or review they want to reference while they ask the AI a question about it.
Side-by-side shopping — Customers can keep the chat open next to a product detail page, comparing recommendations to what's on screen.
More engagement, less friction — When the chat doesn't get in the way, shoppers are more comfortable leaving it open longer and asking more questions.
A familiar, modern feel — Drag-and-drop windows are the same pattern shoppers already know from video calls and music players, so it feels natural the first time they try it.
Good to Know
Desktop only — Drag and drop applies to the open chat window on desktop. On mobile, the chat already takes up the screen and isn't draggable.
Works in the regular chat window, not fullscreen — When the chat is expanded to fullscreen, it fills the browser and can't be dragged. Switching back to the regular window restores dragging.
Stays inside the browser window — Shoppers can move the chat anywhere within the visible page area, but it won't get lost off-screen.
No setup required — Drag and drop is on automatically for every Rep AI chat widget. You don't need to enable anything in the Console.
Position resets between visits — Each new session starts the chat in its default corner; shoppers can drag it again whenever they like.
