Understand File Sources
Your store website serves as the primary information source for your Rep concierge. Your AI is already automatically trained on your entire website, excluding blog pages.
In addition to adding information directly to your website, there are several ways to provide your AI with extra information to answer customer questions. (For an overview of all the methods for training your AI, please refer to the following Rep help center article: Refine the AI's responses)
One of these methods is uploading File Sources, including documents (PDF or TXT) or spreadsheets/tables (CSV), to your AI's Knowledge Base.
Uploading File Sources is useful for brief documents or guides containing information (unavailable on your website) that you'd like your Rep concierge to leverage when answering shopper questions.
Optimize your File Sources for the AI
Before uploading any file sources for Rep's AI to ingest, please ensure that your file sources adhere to the following guidelines:
- The file source must be in one of the following formats: PDF, TXT, or CSV.
- The content should be readable (in text format). The AI cannot read images or videos within file sources.
- Each file source should be as short as possible. Keep documents under 5-6 paragraphs or 800 words.
- Each file source should ideally focus on a single topic. If the content in your file source covers multiple topics, consider dividing the content into separate files before uploading.
If you are unsure about your file source formatting, please feel free to contact us at support@hellorep.ai for guidance.
Upload File Sources to the AI's Knowledge Base
- Log into the Rep console at the following link: https://app.hellorep.ai/home
- In the left-hand menu, navigate to AI Training > Knowledge Base.
- On the Knowledge Base page, select the File Sources tab on the left. Then, press File Upload.
- A File Upload pop-up window will appear. Drag and drop the file from your device, or click Browse to select the file from your File Browser.
- Optionally, you can limit the file source to a specific product page. This is useful if the file source content is relevant only to a specific product, such as sizing information.
To do so, switch the Only relevant to specific product pages toggle on, then select Add Product to choose the desired product.
- Finally, click Upload at the bottom of the pop-up window.
Delete File Sources
You can delete previously uploaded File Sources from your AI's Knowledge Base anytime.
Simply locate the specific file under All Files, then click the Trash Bin icon to the right of the file to delete.
View or download your uploaded File Sources
If you'd like to view a file source you've already uploaded to the File Sources in your AI's Knowledge Base, simply click the name of the file source to view it in a new tab in your web browser.
If you want to download the file to your device, simply click the Download icon to the right of the file.
